Important Correction and a Request

Dear friends,

Thanks to help from a subscriber who knows his statistics, I've found I made a mistake in a recent email. In that message I calculated the odds of the London bombings on 7/7/05 happening at exactly the same three stations and on the same date as a training being conducted to handle multiple-site bombings. I failed in my calculations to divide the result by (3 x 2 x 1) to avoid overcounting, so that instead of 7 billion to one, it comes out to odds of slightly over one billion to one.

Consider also that both the alleged bombers and the training teams may have selected stations based on certain criteria like how crowded or how close to the center of the city they were, and the odds decrease even more. I apologize for not mentioning these in the original email I sent out. I have made corrections on that webpage. Yet also note that these calculations did not include the high odds against so many major terrorist events all have trainings on exactly the same day that the event happened. If you add all of these into the equation, the odds become astronomical now matter how you calculate it.

With that out of the way, I'd like to make a request. At the beginning of this month, we were $12,600 in the red. With the awesome generosity of many of you, we are now only $1,200 in the deficit column. Thank you so much to all who have helped this to happen!!!

For those who have yet to donate, I ask you to please help us erase this final bit of deficit and end up in the black. Remember that as we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, any donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law.
