CNN Showbiz Tonight
Coverage of 9/11 Cover-up

CNN Showbiz Tonight made it's mark as the first major media source to give major exposure to the 9/11 cover-up. It all began on Wednesday, March 22, 2006, with the broadcast of actor Charlie Sheen's claims that the government was covering up the truth around 9/11. For three consecutive days, host A.J. Hammer on CNN's prime time program Showbiz Tonight gave 10 minutes coverage or more to the 9/11 cover-up. Below you can see the video recordings of the coverage given and read transcripts of the shows on the CNN website.

HAMMER: A Charlie Sheen shocker. Tonight, the actor`s stunning statements on 9/11. Maybe the airplanes did not take down the Twin Towers. And maybe the government is covering it all up. SHEEN: The more you look at stuff, especially specific incidents, specific events in and around the fateful day, it just -- it just raises a lot of questions. HAMMER: Charlie Sheen, star of CBS`s successful sitcom, "Two and a Half Men", says point blank, 9/11, the Pentagon, the World Trade Center, this is all a cover up.

"It's been pretty hard to believe the response we got today to the incredible story Showbiz Tonight broke last night, after Charlie Sheens' startling claims that the government may be covering up what really happened on 9/11. So many emails coming in...we've been really overwhelmed today. Between the emails, the blogs, the websites—everybody is writing and talking about it.

10-minute CNN interview on 9/11 with Charlie Sheen and Alex Jones - Video - Transcript (excerpt below)

"SHEEN: I had a sense that this thing was going to get hot. I didn`t realize that it was going to go supernova. HAMMER: Charlie Sheen`s comments on a possible 9/11 conspiracy have definitely gone supernova. And this star`s earning both criticism and praise. HAMMER: But speaking on the radio today, an angry Sheen went after those who, responding to his 9/11 statements, are now attacking his wild and controversial past. SHEEN: 90 percent of them were attacking me personally, attacking my credibility. I am an American citizen that loves my country. And as a citizen with my passion for this great country, I demand that I be challenged on the facts, not on immature behavior from 20 years ago."

Two-minute CNN clip including Sharon Stone's comments supportive of Sheen. - Video clip - Transcript (excerpt below)

HAMMER: Over the weekend I had the opportunity to sit down with Sharon stone. She commended Charlie Sheen for having the guts to speak his mind. SHARON STONE: I think you have to be brave enough to say how you feel and stand in the face of authority and say it. That`s why we have freedom of speech. HAMMER: Responses at SHOWBIZ TONIGHT absolutely overwhelming. The e-mails continue to flood in. They were coming in all weekend long. We were asking the question; do you agree there is a government cover-up of 9/11? More than 53,000 of you voted in our online poll. Eighty-three percent of you agreed and said yes; 17 percent of you said no.

Actor Ed Asner's interview on the 9/11 cover-up cancelled at last minute. - How it happened and WantToKnow's involvement

March 29, 2006

CNN is quiet. But the San Francisco Chronicle publishes this incredible exposé on 9/11.

"Long Live The 9/11 Conspiracy!"

Note: For unexplained reasons this article was not available on a Google News search. This is very rare! Renowned theologian David Ray Griffin also gives explosive testimony on Pacifica radio - click here. In addition, on this day receives a letter from the New York Times insisting that we take down a copy of a Times article where experts describe the investigation into the collapse of the World Trade Centers as being woefully inadequate. We were eventually forced to take the article down, but left instructions on how to find it elsewhere.

March 30, 2006

CNN continues quiet, but for the second day in a row, the San Francisco Chronicle publishes a revealing article on 9/11 cover-up.

"An Inside Job? Theologian scoffed at 9/11 conspiracy theories, then looked closer."

Background to cancellation of 9/11 cover-up interview on March 28, 2006

As is part of a wide research network, both Barry Zwicker of CBC TV in Canada and Fred Burks of emailed Mr. Asner on the March 25th encouraging him to appear on CNN. He had signed a petition by 100 prominent Americans, who back in 2004 called for an unbiased investigation into what really happened on 9/11. Mr. Asner's secretary responded to our request with the below email:

Hi, Ed plans to appear on CNN tomorrow (Tues.3/28) around 4pm w/ Sander Hicks on the subject.

Ed's asst.

Thus, on March 28th, actor Ed Asner was scheduled to be interviewed to air his views that 9/11 was a cover-up, adding even more star power to the 9/11 exposure on CNN. However, less than three hours before show time on the 28th, his assistant emailed again with the following news:

Hi Fred - please let everyone know that up until about an hour ago Ed was set to appear on CNN w/ Sander Hicks and then CNN pulled the plug because they said they couldn't find anyone on the other side of the 9-11 issue to appear w/Ed.  I asked who they were looking for and they said maybe someone from the 9-11 commission or a 9-11 family member.

The Showbiz Tonight website had been advertising Asner's appearance all day. The Asner promo was only yanked 90 minutes before the show. To see the this webpage as it was downloaded before they pulled it:

During the program on the 28th, no mention was made of the fact that they had scheduled and advertised Asner's appearance. For more on this, see

Sadly the owndership of CNN shut down this powerful coverage. Host A.J. Hammer is clearly very passionate about having the 9/11 cover-up exposed, yet we suspect that the ownership of CNN was not happy about what he did.
