Elections Endorsements and Recommendations

How to Save Time Deciding by Quickly Finding Endorsements

Dear friends,

By making good use of the Internet, you can save tremendous amounts of time deciding on who and what you vote for in any elections. The quick and easy way to do this is to look at the endorsements and recommendations of the organizations you most respect. A Google or Yahoo search can help. By reviewing the in-depth research carried out by organizations that you support, you can save yourself lots of time and feel better about your choices on candidates and propositions about which you don't know much.

Using the 2008 U.S. elections as an example, Americans can do a search on "2008 elections endorsements" (without the quotation marks) followed by your state name or county name or both. You can also add in the search your favorite political party (Democratic, Republican, Green, etc.), your favorite newspaper, your favorite group (Sierra Club, League of Women Voters, etc.), or whatever party or organization you most respect to find their recommendations and endorsements.

You may even be able to find a chart which compares the recommendations of numerous organizations. Do this by using words in your search like "comparison" and/or "chart." Using this method, I found the most excellent link below which provides an easy to use list comparing what 40 different organizations of all political persuasions are saying about the various California propositions. By looking at the recommendations of the organizations I most respect on this chart, I didn't have to spend any time researching the propositions, yet could make choices in which I felt very confident. This link for those in California is:

I did a pretty thorough search, but couldn't find any comparisons charts like that at the link above for my local elections. I did, however, find the below Democratic and Green party endorsements for Alameda County, where I live. You can almost certainly find similar information for your county and state/province, even if you live outside of the U.S. when it is election time in your country.

And for you elections activists, I highly recommend a five-minute video which shows not only the many ways your vote can disappear, but also what you can do to make sure your vote counts. Take a look at this link. For those who want to explore in more depth how our votes can be and sometimes are manipulated and what you can do about it, check out the reliable, verifiable information at this link. How awesome that with the Internet we can all be better informed and make better choices in elections with a few clicks of the mouse! Let us all hope that the candidates elected are those who will best support all in our world and will help to build a brighter future for us and for future generations. Take care and have a beautiful day.

With best wishes,
