Huge Drop in Violent Crime
The Amazing Story Media Doesn't Want You to Know

Dear friends,

What if I told you that the United States has experienced one of the greatest reductions in crime in modern history... and almost nobody knows about it?

Here's an amazing, yet little-known fact that should be front-page news everywhere: Violent crime in America has plummeted to levels not seen since the 1960s. We're talking about a major improvement in public safety that's happened right under our noses—yet somehow, it's been buried or greatly downplayed by the major media.

The Numbers Will Amaze You:

  • Violent crime rates in 2023? Lesss than 1/3 of what they were in 1993
  • Personal theft/larceny crimes? Down to 1/8 of 1993 levels
  • Your odds of being sexually assaulted? Down 60% from what they were 30 years ago

Don't believe it? Check out the official U.S. Department of Justice statistics. Let that sink in. You are literally three times safer today than you were in the early '90s.

The largest decline came between 1993 and 2010, after which the rates largely leveled out. Sadly, the pandemic lockdowns of 2020 and 2021 led to increased angst worldwide causing a spike in violent crime, but by 2023 the numbers had returned to pre-pandemic levels. The FBI's report on 2024 statistics shows further declines.

The Media Blackout That Doesn't Make Sense

Here's where it gets really weird. When I first stumbled across this data over a decade ago, I thought it had to be wrong. Crime dominating headlines every day, yet we're actually experiencing what could be considered a safety miracle? I dove deep into FBI statistics I found on this webpage expecting to debunk it—instead, I found one of the most inspiring untold stories of our time.

But here's the kicker: Almost nobody knows about it.

I've been tracking media coverage of this phenomenon for years, and what I've found is astounding. Major outlets either:

  • Bury the good news in boring statistics
  • Water it down with qualifying language ("appears to be safer")
  • Focus on the few areas where crime hasn't dropped
  • Completely ignore the story altogether

The Headlines That Should Have Been

Instead of inspiring celebrations, here's what we got:

  • "Crime Rates Fall Again, but Decline May Slow" (NY Times)
  • "FBI: U.S. crime falls, but small town violence up" (USA Today)
  • "Crime rate decline puzzles theorists" (Boston Globe)
  • FBI says violent crime fell 4 percent last year; but has long downward trend hit bottom? (Washington Post)

One pathetic New York Times article had the audacity to title their coverage: "Steady Decline in Major Crime Baffles Experts." Baffles? How about "America Achieves Historic Crime Breakthrough!" And the article from the year 2000 with the title "Crime Rates Fall Again, but Decline May Slow" shows further evidence of negative bias, when crime rates did not slow at all.

Notice the pattern? Every silver lining gets a cloud. Every breakthrough gets a "but."

What's Really Behind This Inspiring Story?

The honest answer? Nobody knows for sure. And that's actually part of what makes this so fascinating! Theories include:

  • Smartphone distraction: Potential criminals too busy scrolling to commit crimes
  • Aging population: Baby boomers moved past crime-prone years
  • Digital connection: Internet and social media creating more social bonds
  • Better policing strategies (though not harsher sentences—incarceration rates haven't changed much)

The beautiful mystery is that this transformation happened organically, without some massive government program or dramatic social intervention.

Why This Story Matters Now More Than Ever

In a world drowning in negativity, fear-mongering, and division, we're sitting on one of the most hopeful data points in modern American history—yet it continues to be hidden from the public.

This isn't just statistics. This is proof that:

  • Society can dramatically improve
  • Progress doesn't always require massive interventions
  • We're capable of becoming fundamentally safer, more peaceful people
  • The "world is falling apart" narrative is often wrong

The Game-Changing Question

If media can downplay or ignore one of the most positive developments in public safety history, what other inspiring news are we missing?

What other quiet revolutions are happening while we're distracted by daily outrage cycles?

Your Mission: Become a Hope Spreader

This story doesn't just need to be told—it needs to be celebrated, shared, and shouted from the rooftops.

Every time someone says "the world is going to hell" or "we're doomed" you now have hard data proving that in at least one crucial way, we're living in the safest, most peaceful America in generations.

Share this. Print it out. Email it to friends. Post it on social media.

Because if we can't celebrate genuine progress when it happens, how will we ever recognize it when it's right in front of us?

No matter what the reason for this decline, let's celebrate this great news! At least in this one very significant way, our world is a safer place to live. And to explore many other top inspirational resources, see our collection here.
