Supporting Transformation
PEERS and WantToKnow.info
Message from PEERS Executive Director:
Public Education and Empowerment Resource Service (PEERS) is deeply committed to supporting transformation in our world through inspiration and education. Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in January 2006, PEERS holds a clear vision of reducing social conflict and economic inequalities, educating the public to the little-known forces underlying the political and economic structures that shape our world, and inspiring a sense of global community based on love and cooperation. The greatest part of our current work involves the ongoing development of several empowering websites dedicated to these goals.
Through both our popular educational and inspirational websites and their related email lists (with more than 4,000 subscribers from over 75 countries), PEERS provides important but often overlooked news from reliable sources, as well as inspirational stories, exercises, and community-building ideas designed to help reduce social conflict and inspire people to join in transforming our world into a better place for all in the human family.
The most popular PEERS website, www.WantToKnow.info, specializes in revealing critical information about important cover-ups of which few are aware. Using reliable, verifiable sources such as key news articles from the major media and revealing government documents, this highly educational website exposes the hidden forces and agendas which too often lead to increased conflict, war, and injustice in our world. All information provided on this website is taken from the most reliable sources available, and most can be verified with minimal research using links provided. WantToKnow.info has received over two million visits from around the world, and is very user-friendly with its easy-to-navigate dropdown menus, information centers, and revealing news summaries.
Our inspiring Moment of Love website at www.momentoflove.org is a powerful reminder that every person in the world has a heart and that every heart has a place within that wants only to love and be loved. The Web of Love website at www.weboflove.org takes this a step further and invites visitors to join in strengthening the energetic web of love that interconnects the hearts of all people on earth. Several simple exercises give empowering ideas on deepening our connection with ourselves and with all around us. Both of these websites also have information ideas on how to form a local Circle of Love for any group which is interested in joining in this powerful work. Another website, Global Community for All, provides inspiring ideas and information for community building based on the principle that we all benefit when we celebrate and learn from our diversity, and when we join in choosing what's best for all people as we invite ever-greater love, healing, and empowerment into all of our lives.
PEERS provides all of the information compiled on our websites and email lists free of charge and without advertising. We are focused entirely on creating opportunities for people to educate themselves and others, and to inspire one another to strengthen democracy and to join in working together for the good of all who share our world. We recognize that our planet is currently facing a wide spectrum of complex problems. Social injustice, permanent war and grave environmental dangers are only likely to be transformed when people across the planet educate themselves about what is occurring and why. The magnitude of these problems, however, often causes people to feel an overwhelming sense of frustration, disempowerment, and even cynicism.
PEERS seeks to address the deepest, underlying causes of these problems and their impacts on people's well-being by providing reliable facts and empowering guidance and inspiration to overcome any feelings of inadequacy. We start with the understanding that every one of us makes a difference in our world. By reminding people of this, and inspiring them to take action both in their personal lives and in the greater society, PEERS is making a big difference in building a more just, cooperative world. The large number of supportive and grateful emails we receive demonstrate that our efforts are greatly appreciated by an ever-growing number of the people.
PEERS is involved through dialogue, information exchange, and mutual support with numerous like-minded nonprofit organizations supporting various aspects of personal and global transformation, including Challenge Day (www.challengeday.org), The Love Foundation (www.thelovefoundation.com), Information Clearing House (www.informationclearinghouse.info), and NewHeavenNewEarth (www.nhne.org). PEERS is a key part of a growing movement to rebuild global social harmony and community.
Most of the hard work of creating and maintaining the websites, compiling critical information and writing inspirational guides has fallen on me as the Executive Director of PEERS and only full-time volunteer. With the capable assistance of numerous dedicated volunteers, we have brought the organization to its current, widely praised position almost entirely through the volunteering of our own time and energy. We have had amazing success on a shoestring budget. In our first year (2006), visitors to the websites and loyal subscribers to the email lists sent in donations which totaled just over $10,000. Thanks largely to three generous donors, we have surpassed last year's total donations in 2007. But the needs to which PEERS is responding are vast. To meet these needs, PEERS envisions new projects and the necessity of further funding, primarily to support operations through modest salaries for me, additional paid employees and technical consultants.
One valuable addition to the WantToKnow.info website we would like to develop is a special section on analysis of each of the topics we cover. Building upon our trademark reliable, verifiable information and relying on our respected team of experts, this analysis section would provide essays which take our current information to a deeper level by placing it within a larger context. Further, because we have archived such an abundance of critical information, we also would like to start work on a series of new websites. Each of these websites would focus on one of the major cover-ups we have helped to expose. We have plenty of solid information to build a highly revealing website for each of these vital topics.
Another major new project about which we are excited is the development of a website for what we are calling the Transformation Team, at www.transformationteam.net. We would like to focus a significant portion of our efforts in the coming year on this important community-building website. We envision this website becoming a key portal of conscious community in action, where deeply committed participants come together and use a variety of empowering networking tools available on the website to help further transform our planet to a new way of living based on love and empowerment.
In order that we can focus more time and energies on developing the Transformation Team website, we have hired our first wonderful, capable employee, Tod Fletcher. In order to pay Tod's salary, we will be depending on dedicated people like you to support us. Furthermore, to continue to expand the coverage and quality of the content of the established websites, and to begin to develop the new websites we envision, it is highly desirable that other employees be hired as well. Finally, the complexity and challenges of developing, maintaining and growing multiple, complex, state-of-the-art websites and email lists will require that PEERS have ongoing technical support available from one or more skilled technical consultants.
To support our bold vision for the future, we invite you to contribute to PEERS. Thanks to our nonprofit status, all contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. To make a donation by check, money order or credit card, please visit www.peerservice.org/donations. If you have any questions or would like to collaborate with us in any way, please contact us at www.peerservice.org/contactuspeers.php. Thank you for your efforts towards a better world for ourselves and for future generations. We greatly appreciate your interest, your support, and your commitment to bring about a brighter future for all.
With very best wishes,
Frederick Burks
